Waterside access is provided by (2) 3” x 4” |
All Superior Boiler Works units are manufactured to ASME code requirements with each unit inspected by a National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessels registered inspector. |
Demand 3/4” thick tubesheets and 9/l6” minimum tube hole ligament to decrease the possibilities of ligament cracks, warped and overheated tubesheet and better tube holding capabilities. |
Full Front Tubesheet access is provided by split/davited doors. No electrical or fuel connections or linkage need be disconnected for access to the fireside. Front smokebox and doors are lined with ceramic fiber blanket. |
Steam boilers _ large disengaging area and dry plate (High Pressure) or dry pan (Low Pressure) at the steam outlet assures high quality, dry steam. |
Superior Wetback design incorporates the furnace
at the lowest section of the boiler. Resulting in enhanced natural water circulation; which reduces the possibility of over-heating and formation of hot spots. |

The wetback turnaround gives additional heating surfaces and results in cooler flue gas temperatures
entering the 2nd pass, resulting in less tube leaks and cracked tube ends at the entrance to the 2nd pass.
The wetback has the advantage of a lower temperature gradient across the tube sheet resulting in longer
tubesheet life. The rear doors don’t require a cool down period before opening, as the the drybacks do.

3-pass wetback Ohio Special units are factory firetested to check electrical components for proper operation and adjustment of the fuel/air ratio for smooth ignition and firing. |
